Hermès perfume gifts: which Eau de Parfum to choose

By Rowan Hale · 9 October 2026

Hermès is one of the great French luxury houses, and its perfumes have the same quiet confidence as its leather and silk: refined, beautifully made and never shouty. An Hermès fragrance is a gift that feels special without needing a logo.

These five are all Eau de Parfum, the longer-lasting strength: three for her, including two from the Merveilles range in its rounded, pebble-shaped bottles, and two from the Terre d'Hermès family for him. Each pick says who it suits and who should skip it. Check the current price on each product page before you buy.

1For her: the newest signature

Hermès Barénia Eau de Parfum 100ml

Barénia is Hermès' newest women's perfume, launched in 2024 and named after the house's famous leather. It's a modern chypre: a bright berry note and bergamot on top, white ginger lily in the heart, and patchouli and oak underneath. It suits someone who loves understated luxury and wants a scent few people will recognise. The bottle is refillable. Skip it if she prefers sweet or very fresh perfumes.

2For her: warm orange and amber

Hermès Elixir des Merveilles Eau de Parfum 50ml

Elixir des Merveilles has been part of Hermès' Merveilles range since 2006, created by the house's celebrated perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena. It's a rich, glowing scent of candied orange peel, amber, patchouli and vanilla with a hint of caramel, perfect for winter evenings. It suits someone who loves warm, cosy perfumes. Skip it if she wears light, fresh scents.

3For her: soft and golden

Hermès L'Ambre des Merveilles Eau de Parfum 50ml

L'Ambre des Merveilles, also by Jean-Claude Ellena, launched in 2012 and is the gentlest of the Merveilles Eau de Parfums. It's built around amber, labdanum, vanilla and patchouli, so it's warm and sweet without being heavy. It suits someone who likes a comforting skin scent rather than something bold. Skip it if she wants a perfume people notice across a room.

4For him: crisp and frosty

Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau Givrée Eau de Parfum 100ml

Eau Givrée is the Eau de Parfum member of the Terre d'Hermès family, launched in 2022. Hermès builds it on lemon and juniper over cedarwood, with a cool, mineral edge, so it's fresh but more refined than a sporty scent. It suits someone who likes clean fragrances and quiet luxury. The bottle is refillable. Skip it if he likes warm, sweet scents.

5For him: earthy and woody

Hermès Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver Eau de Parfum 50ml

Eau Intense Vétiver, created by Christine Nagel and launched in 2018, is the earthier side of Terre d'Hermès. Bergamot, grapefruit and lemon open onto Sichuan pepper and geranium, with vetiver leading a base of olibanum, patchouli and amberwood. It suits someone who likes grown-up, woody scents with real depth. Skip it if he prefers sweet or aquatic fragrances.

How I chose

I picked Hermès Eau de Parfums that are listed on Amazon UK and cover different tastes. Some favourites aren't here: the blue Eau des Merveilles Bleue is only made as an Eau de Toilette, and this site only recommends Eau de Parfum. I haven't personally tested every perfume here; the descriptions come from Hermès' product information and UK retailers' listings.

This site isn't connected with Hermès, and no brand paid to be included.
